The new lesson we'll see how to retouch the skin of a model, imitate the make-up, draw the tattoos, represent the hair out of the smoke, use different textures, represent the clouds and insert the wings on the picture, enlarge the background the model is situated on, not cutting it out and create the effect of an old picture, at least on its edges.
Open in a new window the picture of a girl, situated on a single nuance background: File � Open (ctrl+o).
Select the Eyedropper Tool to copy the background's color and place it on the palette as "background color". Choose the Crop Tool also to enlarge the picture's size.
As we may see the picture's edges are clearly visible, that is why we'll get rid of them. Blur them out for the beginning, using the Patch Tool.
Select in the Brush Tool option a brush type named Chalk and start applying it on a new layer (Layer � Mew Layer), selecting a darker color that we'll use on the whole background.
Blur out the layer, using Filter � Blur � Gaussian Blur.
Merge down the layers: Layer � Merge Down (ctrl+e) and we'll have a whole background of one nuance.
Continue by retouching the girl's skin. Choose the Clone Stamp Tool firstly and apply pointed motions to hide the most visible skin's defects (the colors must be copied near the place we want to retouch).
The Patch Tool will be helpful in hiding the swellings under the girl's eyes.
Copy now the layer: Layer � Duplicate Layer (ctrl+j) and apply the next option on the copy - layer: Filter � Blur � Smart Blur.
Create now a mask out of the layer: Layer � Add Layer Mask � Hide All and make use of the Brush Tool of white color with smooth edges to make the layer visible only on the smoothest skin places (the face, the neck, arms, but don't paint the folds).
Merge down the layers (ctrl+e) and select the Smudge Tool to blur out the interrupted lines, remained when applying the filter.
Paint the girl's lips on a new layer, selecting the Brush Tool:
Change the layer's Blending Mode on Color Burn and blur out a little the edges of the lipstick, using the Blur Tool.
Merge down the layers (ctrl+e) and make the corrections of the layer's color, applying next options: Image � Adjustments � Selective Color.
Change also the brightness and the level of the contrast, applying Image � Adjustments � Levels (ctrl+l).
We have to accentuate the girl's eyes on a new layer, applying the usual Brush Tool.
Change the layer's Blending Mode on Multiply and merge down the layers (ctrl+e). Download now a set of ready to use brushes of smoke shape (http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/29341959/? qo=12&q=by%3Afalln-brushes&qh=sort%3Atime+-in%3Ascrapsor from here: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/29341741/? qo=13&q=by%3Afalln-brushes&qh=sort%3Atime+-in%3Ascraps) and represent the girl's hair out of the smoke, using the next combinations: Edit � Free Transform (ctrl+t), Edit � Transform � Distort, Edit � Flip Horizontal, and also the Eraser Tool, but we have to insert each lock on a new layer, transform it and combine the layer with the rest of them.
Now we have to download a set of ready to use brushes of wing's shape (http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/15260491/? q=by%3Aspiritsighs-stock+wings&qh=sort%3Atime+-in%3Ascraps) and insert on a new layer a wing behind the girl.
We have to make a copy of this layer, just to make its color more intensive (ctrl+j) and merge down the layers (ctrl+e). Make another copy of this layer and correct its size and the distort level of the second wing, using Edit � Transform � Distort and Edit - Free Transform (ctrl+t).
We have to erase the unnecessary parts of both wings, choosing the Eraser Tool.
Insert on a new layer the already scanned picture of a tattoo. Open it firstly in a new window (ctrl+o), mark it out with the Rectangular Marquee Tool and make a copy of it Edit � Copy (ctrl+c). Get back to the girl's window and insert it on a new layer (ctrl+v).
Decolorize this layer: Image � Adjustments � Desaturate (shift+ctrl+u) and increase the layer's contrast, applying next option: Image � Adjustments � Curves (ctrl+m).
Insert the picture on the necessary place (in this case we have to put it on the forearm), using the Free Transform selection (ctrl+t) and change the layer's Blending Mode on Multiply.
Just to make the tattoo look more real, we have to create the illusion that the picture repeats the arm's volume. It's possible to do this manipulation by applying the Turbulence Tool in the next window: Filter � Liquefy (shift+ctrl+x).
Erase now that part of the picture situated outside the skin's borders (Eraser Tool).
Select a ready to use brush now to introduce the moon in our picture (the brush may be downloaded on this address: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/9890582/? qo=65&q=by%3Alarafairie-stock&qh=sort%3Atime+-in%3Ascraps).
Make the color's correction of the basic layer (Selective Color).
Insert now the texture of an old paper, placed above all the layers:
Change the layer's Blending Mode on Linear Burn and change also the texture's color, selecting Image � Adjustments � Hue/Saturation (ctrl+u).
Create a mask out of the layer: Layer � Add Layer Mask � Reveal All and make use of the Brush Tool of black color to make the texture invisible above the girl's skin.
Select the Brush Tool on a new layer to insert the shadows on the girl's eyelids.
Then we have to create a mask out of this layer and choose after that the Gradient Tool to make them almost invisible :
Merge down all the layers: Layer � Merge Visible (shift+ctrl+e) and when creating a new layer, apply the next combination on it: Filter � Render � Clouds (selecting on the color palette the white and black colors).

Grunge web layout for photoshop
In this tutorial we are going to learn how to make a grunge web layout
1)Open a new document and fill the background with the color #5e3f17.
2)Now we are going to create a texture which we will use later. Open another new document and with the size 800 x 600 pixels. Press D to set the colors to black and white, then go to Filter > Render > Clouds. Then go to Filter > Noise > Add Noise and choose this settings: Amount 50%; Distribution = Uniform; Monochromatic = On. After that, use Filter > Artistic > Dry Brush with settings: Brush Size = 2; Brush Detail = 8; Texture = 1.
Go again to Filter > Noise > Add Noise and choose the settings you have used before, then go to Filter > Artistic > Paint Daubs and use the settings: Brush Size 7, Sharpness 9, Brush Type Simple.
3) Go to Filter > Brush Strokes > Splatter, and use the settings: Spray Radius = 20 and Smoothness = 5.
4) Go to Select > Color Range, from the list select Highlights, then click OK. Delete the selected pixels by pressing Delete button. Save this texture, we will use it later.
5) Now we are going to mage a piece of paper. Create a new layer (Ctrl + Shift + N), make a rectangular selection and fill the selection with white. Open the Layer Style window and use the following settings.
6) Use Polygonal Lasso Tool to cut a corner of the paper, then create a new layer, and use the same tool to make a selection like the one bellow. Fill the selection with any color, then open the Layer Style window and use the following settings.
7) Download a set of Splatter Brushes by following this link http://www.brusheezy.com/brush/481-G...ills-Splatters Now add some text on the piece of paper and use Custom Shape Tool to draw a heart. Fill the heart with a dark red color, then go to Layer > Layer Mask > Reveal All. Load the brushes you have downloaded earlier then set the foreground color to black and use some of this brushes to mask some parts of the heart layer.
8) Make a rectangular selection and fill it with the color #d4c490. Put the texture you created earlier above this layer, make sure that you have selected the rectangle layer, then go to Select > Load Selection. Now select the texture layer and go to Layer > Layer Mask > Reveal Selection. Set the opacity for this layer to 10%. Put the both layers inside a folder then go to Layer > Layer Mask > Reveal All to add a mask to the folder. Make sure that your foreground color is Black, then use some of the brushes you have downloaded earlier to mask some parts of the group.
9) I added the Photoshop CS3 logo I used this tutorial (http://www.photoshopstar.com/graphic...h-tape-effect/ ) to make two scotch tapes.
10) In a new layer create a smaller rectangular selection and fill it with the color #a2966e. Here it will be the menu. Repeat what you have done on the step 8 to obtain a result like the one bellow. Add the text, open the Layer Style window and use the settings from the next image.
11) In a new layer create another rectangle under the menu and , fill it with the color #d8c17a and repeat what you have done on the step 8, then add some text above this rectangle.
12) Make a selection with a height of 5-10 pixels and fill it with the color #eb9c37.
13) In the left part of the layout I added some vector lines and in the right part I putted an arrow vector. You can download this vectors from www.vecteezy.com I have putted the vectors which I used in a .psd file, and you can download it from here: http://flyupload.flyupload.com/?fid=886767
14) Now we are going to create the background for the posts. Select Rounded Rectangle Tool, then make a rounded rectangle with a radius of 15 pixels. Fill it with the color #f0e4bc and add the texture you created on the beginning of the tutorial. Add some content above this layer.
15) Now we are going to create the sidebar. Use Rounded Rectangle Tool to make rounded rectangles and fill them with the color #faf3e0. Put the grunge texture above this rectangles, then add the content. I have drawn with some of the splatter brushes above the sidebar using different colors (purple, blue, pink and yellow).
16) For the footer I created three rounded rectangles with the same radius of 15 pixels and the color #cbb87b. I added the grunge texture above this rectangles and I added the content.

Now it is time to add a Logo. I will not explain how to do it, because i din several time. The easy way is to use 3D Logo Creator

Fire text effect
Today i will show you how to create a nice fire text effect.
Open a new document.
Select black as the Foreground color.
With your type tool write some text:
( i have used the Thickhead font - 135 pt )
Right-click the type layer in the Layers palette and choose Rasterize Type from the menu.
be sure you have black as the foreground color . If not press D on your keyboard
Choose Filter > Artistic > Neon Glow
In the Filter Gallery, set the settings for the glow as shown in the following image.
Color is #ef2a04
You should have something like this:
Choose Filter > Brush Strokes > Sprayed Strokes and use the following settings:
Now with the Fire layer selected press on CTRL+J to duplicate
Press on CTRL+U ( Hue/ Saturation ) and use the following settings:
Move this layer with your arrows keys like in the next image:
Now change the blending mode for the " Fire Copy " layer to Color dodge
This is the final result

Retouching a Studio Portrait
This Photoshop tutorial is written for experienced Photoshop users and will show you unique techniques for retouching photos. You’ll learn how to enhance backgrounds, dodge and burn, brighten eyes, and add hair shine while keeping a low count of layers. The techniques you learn from this tutorial can be used for other portrait photos.

Retouching the background
Here is the original image. As a photo it looks fine but it looks flat and boring. This Photoshop tutorial will show you techniques used to make the photo have a stronger impact. You can follow this tutorial with one of your own image or you can use the image below:
Creating the mask
The first step is to isolate the model from the background. I used the extract and color range tool to create this. First I used the extract tool (Filter > Extract) but it didn’t work very well for the hair.
I then use the color range tool (Select > Color Range) to select the areas that were hard to extract using the extract tool.
Now we have a mask in it’s own layer.
Adding a gradient to the background
With the mask created, I can add a gradient to the background. Adding a gradient to the background is a simple and effective way to enhance a boring background. Here is a preview of what the layers will look like in the end.
To create a gradient background, we’ll be adding a gradient fill layer using the mask that we just created. To do that, hold down the Ctrl key and click on the layer thumbnail of the layer “Mask”. It will load the selection of the layer. Choose Select > Inverse to inverse the selection. Then, choose Layer > New Fill Layer > Gradient.
In the Gradient Fill tool, move the center of the gradient behind the head. You can do this by clicking and dragging on the document window.
To increase contrast, you can change the gradient so that it is like the image below.
Finally, adjust the opacity of the Gradient Fill layer. I set mine to 50% opacity.
Tone
Begin by creating a new layer for dodging and burning. Position the layer above the gradient fill adjustment layer. Then, change the blending mode to soft light.
Choose Edit > Fill and use the settings below. 
The layer should now be filled with a 50% gray.
Add a layer mask using the shape from the Mask layer. Hold down the Ctrl key and click on the layer thumbnail of the Mask layer . Then, click on the 
in the layers palette to add a layer mask.
Click back on the 50% gray layer thumbnail and use the dodge and burn tools. For the image below, I used the burn tool to darken the models right side of the face, hair, top, and her arms. Then, I use the dodge tool to brighten the other side of the models face.
Here is a before and after effect of the dodging and burning.
Eye Brightening
Brightening the eyes will have a dramatic effect. It can be easily done by using a Brightness/Contrast adjustment layer. Choose Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Brightness/Contrast to add a new Brightness/Contrast adjustment layer. Rename this layer to Brighten Eyes.
For now, set the brightness to 50 and contrast to 33.
Select the layer mask and choose Image > Adjustments > Invert. This will invert the layer mask from white to black.
Using the brush tool, paint the layer mask where the eyes are. You should see the eyes brighten as you paint. Then, go back into the Brightness/Contrast settings and readjust the settings.
Hair Shine
Finally, we’ll add a shine to the hair. Start by using the quick selection or magic wand tool to create a selection of the hair around the area where you want the shine to appear.
With the selection, choose Layer > New Fill Layer > Gradient. Position the layer above the Brighten Eye layer. Change the blending mode of the Hair Shine layer to overlay. You should have a layer like the image below.
Go back into the Gradient Fill settings. Set the gradient to white to black and style to reflected. Checkmark the reverse option then click and drag on the document window and position the gradient where you want the hair shine to appear. Adjust the scale.
In the Gradient Fill window, click on the gradient to edit it. You should have a window like the image below. Create a gradient like the image below. To do this, click and drag the top left input slider to the middle of the gradient bar. Do the same with the bottom left input slider. Then, click on the individual input sliders and adjust the settings as shown in the image below.
We now have a hair shine but it does not match the color of the hair. We’ll add back a little of the hair color to the shine.
- Click on the bottom left input slider.
- Click on the color setting and a color picker window will appear.
- Click on the hair to capture the color of the hair.
- Move the color picker towards the top left until the hair color looks natural.
- Click OK three times to exit out of the gradient settings.
We have added the hair shine but if you look closely, you can see some artifacts.
We can easily fix this by blurring the layer mask. Select the Hair Shine layer mask then choose Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur. Adjust the settings until the unclean edge fades.
If the hair shine is overlapping the skin, use the Minimum filter to hide it. Choose Filter > Other > Minimum and adjust the slider.
Here is the before and after effect of adding hair shine. You can add emphasis to the eyes by aligning the hair shine with the eyes.

Simplistic Multi-Tags Icon
Create a new document any size with any background color, select the rounded rectangle change the radius to 10 pixels.
Draw out a thin rectangle in any color, then goto “edit > transfrom > rotate” rotate it very slightly. Once you’ve rotated it added these layer styles and set opacity to 85%.
You should have something like this.
Select the elliptical marquee tool and create a selection like this.
Fill the selection with the color white, whilst holding the CTRL key on the keyboard click your blue tab layer. Goto “select > inverse” then hit the delete key. Set layer opacity to 12% and add a layer mask. Drag a linear gradient from the bottom towards the top.
Select the elliptical marquee tool once more and create a circle in the top left side of the tag.
Finished the step by adding this gradient overlay to the circle.
Add some content to your 1st tag like the image below.
You should have something like this.
On each tag add something different, ive chosen some text, photoshop icons and the hv-designs logo.
Subacvatic layout
This is what we gone do today
Open a new photoshop document
Size 760 x 780 pixels
Background color : White
Select Gradient Tool and create the following gradient:
Then with Gradient tool, apply the following gradient. Follow the green arrow
Now find some Clouds brushes over the internet , or make your own brushes if you want , and on a new layer, add a a few clouds.
Select Rounded Rectangle tool, ( set the radius to 5 pixels ) and start making some rectangles
Then add the same layer style for all the rectangles from the top
This is the result
Then for the big shape add the following layer style

Now create a new pattern
Create another document:
Zoom this document to 1600% and with the Pencil Tool Draw 3 points:
After that go to Edit > Define Pattern...
Choose a name for your pattern and press OK

Then you can close this 3 by 3 pixel document , and go back on our main layout
Now select one button, hold the CTRL key down and press on the layer thumbnail with the left mouse button.
You can see that a new selection will be visible around your button

Select Paint Bucket tool,
Use the following settings
And press one time inside your selection
Go to Select > Modify > contract ( and choose contract to 3 pixels )
Choose Select > Inverse , then hit one time the " Delete " key from your keyboard
Now press CTRL+D to deselect
Press on " Add layer mask " button
Select Gradient Tool
Use the following settings:
Then make a small line from Top to Bottom ( please follow the red arrow )
Then duplicate this layer with this pattern , and place it on each button
Now add some tech brushes on your header, and also some text on the buttons
Now you can add another rectangles
Then add the following layer styles
This is the result
Now create some dots with Type tool. rasterize the type , and rotate this layer. I want to add some dots like in the image
Now zoom your document to 1600 %. Choose Pencil tool ( use a square brush ) and add some simple squares on your buttons
Now create a new layre , Select Brush tool ( use a smooth round brush ) and make some random lines. like in the following image. you can use 2 -3 colors if you want
Then go to Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur
Then you can reduce also the layer opacity to 50 %, and you can also change the blending Mode to overlay
This is the result. It looks almost like water
Now you can add some images on your layout. I will add one Oil Rig , and i will combine with a octopus. the effect is very simple. you have to cut different parts from the octopus , and place it under the oil rig
You can see that i have another sea creatures on the bottom of the layout. now you can add as many details you want. if you have stock images.
