In this tutorial we gonna create a logo with a nice background. The word to be used is “wassim”. We will create everything from scractch.

This is a very useful tutorial and can be used in many ways if you understand the main idea. So let’s get started.

Here’s the image we will draw:

1) Create a new document with dimensions 500 X 400 or so.

2) From the toolbox, choose the “Gradient Tool”, then click and drag on the Background Layer (The one that is initially created when you create a new document).
In my case I used the following colors:

Foreground Color: #000000
Background Color: #9032ab.

3) Create a new Layer.

4) Select the “Brush Tool” from the toolbox, set the size to 90 then click anywhere on the document once. Use a white color.

5) From the menu above, choose Layer -> New Adjustment Layer -> Color Balance.

6) A dialog box appears, for the Mode, choose “Color” from the list and click ok.

7) A new dialog box will appear.
First choose “Highlights” from the Tone Balance, and adjust it to match the image.

8) Now select “Midtones” from the Tone Balance, and adjust it to match the image.

9) Now we have an amazing shining ball with a nice background. We will use the ball as a dot above the “i” letter.
Select The “Type Tool” and type “WASSIM” with capital letter. Align the text with the ball.

10) Select the layer that contains the text. From the menu above select Layer -> Layer Style -> Blending Options. Make selections for “Inner Shadow”, “Outer Glow”, “Bevel and Emboss” and “Gradient Overlay”. No need to change anything just keep the default values.

11) Now that’s nice, but to make something special, select the Background Layer. From the menu above choose Filter -> Render -> Lens Flare.

12) A dialog box appears, adjust it as the following image.

Now Click ok. You will get something similar to the following image.

That’s it. Try it out :)
